To the shop assistants in Florence

Wednesday, May 6th, 2009

Finally some attention to the shop assistants!

Lately the florentine newspaper Nuovo Corriere di Firenze” have been given out a serie of articles about the shop assistants and their world.

Every day the giornalist Emanuela De Pinto has been in research among many shops in Florence, Italy, interviewing shop assistants of all kind, from super markets to exclusive fashionable boutiques it’s not the importance. Emanuela wants to know what’s behind their life, experience and why they have been choosing this kind of work.
Why does she want to know this? Unfortunatly and very often this job is underestimated and taken for granted. Many think that it is an easy job and that anyone could do it. Wrong. It’s true that you don’t need any graduation but a lot of patientence, education and passion for what you do, “if not this job isn’t easy to hold on to either physical or psycological“, says Cristina Tizzi our shop director of the shoe shop Romanofirenze in via degli Speziali, Florence, to the giornalist.  On Sunday the 3rd of May you could find the article in “il Nuovo Corriere di Firenze” about us…

Il nuovo corriere di firenzeEvery new article and new story give more or less the same result. It’s a very social work that allows you to stay among a lot of different kind of people from different nationalities. It’s very difficult that you get boored and it keeps you in good shape running scales up and down the stockroom all day long. It’s a work that helps you  to grow: to learn new languages, to get knowledge of new products and in our case you will end up with a new pair of shoes in every corner of your house!

As in all type of jobs you will find pro’s but also con’s like; when everybody are out shopping we are at your service, hence the working hours are uncomfortable, no week-ends or holy-days off. Although with all your passion for this job you will find hard days when it’s very difficult to keep your smile in public and obviusly we cannot hide in a office!

The 7th of May “il Nuovo Corriere di Firenze” will organize a party on the club Full Up in honour to all the shop assistants in Florence. There is also a voting going on for “the ideal shop assistant”.

So hope to see you all shop assistants Thursday night, meantime leave your comment and let your voice be heard!

High heels or no heels!

 go_high

The fashion trends for this summer are certainly enough to make everyone happy! It seems that all kind of styles are “in”. If we say ethnic, bohemic, grecian, fringes, butterflies, romantic styles, graphic patterns, the 80′s look- all you think yes, yes yes and yes…these are all very fashionable styles this summer. And what about colours? It might be easier to mention one colour that isn’t fashionable this summer…

Also for the shoe section you can find many different styles and colours.

But what about the heels? Have you noticed that this summer you either go high heels or no heels? Anyway here in Florence,Italy, you can see this contrast very clearly.

Large heels, cone shaped heels, stiletto heels, wedges they are all high. Fortunatly the platform is a big thing this summer so even if the heels are high at least they are more comfortable.

Ballerinas, gladiator sandals, toe thong sandals in different styles but all very flat. This summer you can find very elegant flats with accessories like fringes, jewelery, patent leather etc. that gives them more importance so one could also wear them for dressed-up occasions.

And what about you, do you go high or low?

White shoes + Millencolin concert ?

Thursday, April 23rd, 2009

machine_15_cover_425

Yesterday the Swedish punkrock band Millencolin had their first concert here in Florence, Italy! The concert took place at crowded Viper and the audience was very excited! Millencolin played a great mix of old and new songs with an excellent performance! A disappointment was that they didn’t play the old favourite song Move your car from the album Life on a Plate (1995), but for the rest it was really a great concert!

When you go to a rock concert it’s often very crowded and people get all wild and start jumping around everywhere. So pay attention on what you wear! For example a pair of white shoes might not be a good idea becasue they will change colour in a second after people stepping on your feet, neither a pair of stiletto heels because they will probably break when you get all emotional and start jumping to your favourite song! A nice pair of dark coloured sneakers, jeans, a simple boxer top, a shoulder bag and voilà you are ready to rock!
