The second day of Pitti Uomo 78 and Pitti W precollection

Yesterday the famous fashion event Pitti Immagine opened for the second day at the Fortezza da Basso in Florence. The event runs from the 15th to the 18th of June and attracts fashionistas, designers, buyers and eccentric and likeable personalities that can’t resist this opportunity to show off their bizzare looks. Above all, what makes this event so unique are the people!

Even though the rain showed no intention to stop, the exhibition area at the Fortezza da Basso was crowded, but unfortunately the weather limited the arrangements outside.

The theme of  this edition is “Design Watching” and it’s expressed by 18 creative images on billboards outside. Patricia Urquiola, the creative mind behind this edition, has selected “watchers” among journalistus, buyers and designers that have chosen different design objects in order to express and create a link between fashion (moda) and design.

Walking long the different pavillions is always amusing;  some exhibitors use the space to outburst creativity while others  go for a more sophisticated look – hopefully these photos will give you an idea!

At the ex Dogana in via Valfonda where the Pitti Woman Precollection takes place, you find exclusive sneak peaks of what will be the spring/summer collections 2011, according to 76 international brands.

Yesterday night the high expectations were all for the catwalk event at Palazzo Corsini by the special guest Haider Ackermann. The womenswear  for the upcoming season and menswear (for the first time).

Stay tuned to hear more about this amazing fashion night…
